KATE MASTELLONE
4s Teacher
I am lucky to teach the 5 day 4’s at FCCNS! I have been teaching and tutoring throughout Darien since our move to town 9 years ago and am so thrilled to be part of such a special faculty team!! I graduated from Georgetown University and went on to pursue a Master’s Degree in Education Birth-6th from Fordham University while working as a teacher at the Convent of the Sacred Heart in NYC. After 5 years teaching 2nd grade, my passion for literacy drove me to pursue an additional Master’s Degree in Language & Literacy, thus enabling me to integrate new knowledge and techniques in the classroom. When I am not in the classroom, I am at home with my three children; Andrew (18) Lia (15) and Mason (12) and my husband, Mike, of 20 years. Over the last 9 years, I have been an active volunteer in the school system and returned to teaching once my role as Co-Chair of the Hindley School PTO came to an end. I thoroughly enjoy an active lifestyle and devote my energy to running, reading, cooking, painting, being with my extensive family and to learning!
The moment I walked through the doors at FCCNS, I could feel the positive energy and connected with faculty who are dedicated educators by nature, just like me. It is a very special community that is filled to the brim with collaboration, creativity, dedication and truly is a school like none other! I am grateful every morning I walk through the doors to the home away from home that it has become!
